CitationTwitter Plans to Go Beyond Its 140-Character Limit

Twitter is building a new product that will allow users to share tweets that are longer than the company's 140-character limit, according to multiple people familiar with the company's plans.

It's unclear what the product will look like, but sources say it would enable Twitter users to publish long-form content to the service. Users can already tweet out blocks of text with products like OneShot, but those are simply images, not actual text published on Twitter. A Twitter spokesperson declined to comment.

CitationFacebook is reportedly testing a 'Notify' app to take on Twitter for real-time news

Though a ton of people already use Facebook as their primary source for news, Twitter still reigns king when it comes to aggregating news story as it happens.

That may be changing soon: According to a report by The Awl, an upcoming Notify app allows Facebook users to aggregate notifications from various publishers on recently posted stories or content. It means that – as on Twitter – people can access news in real-time, instead of just stumbling upon an article whenever it shows up on your feed.

As The Awl points out, people are already used to receiving notifications from Facebook and news publication apps, so Notify would simply be mashing these together.
