J'ai rapidement regardé, il faut autoriser l'ordinateur sur lequel on est et tu peux en autoriser une dizaine, faut donc se logger sur l'ordinateur "cible". Tu peux autoriser 10 ordinateurs.

Should SteamOS gain traction among gamers and developers, that could force more hardware manufacturers to extend driver support beyond Windows.

That's a sore point for Torvalds, who slammed Nvidia last year for failing to support open-source driver development for its graphics chips. Now that SteamOS is on the way, Nvidia has opened up to the Linux community, something Torvalds predicts is a sign of things to come.

"I'm not just saying it'll help us get traction with the graphics guys," he said. "It'll also force different distributors to realise if this is how Steam is going, they need to do the same thing because they can't afford to be different in this respect. They want people to play games on their platform too."

Another reason Linux hasn't done well on desktop, according to Torvalds, is because developers focus on useless UX features.

"Linux is doing wonderfully well in so many different areas, but I still am somewhat disappointed about the fact that Linux desktop is this morass of in-fighting and people who do bad things," he said.

"I do hope the desktop people will try to work together, and work more on the technology than trying to make the login screen look really nice," he added.

On le sent hyper heureux et confiant en l'avenir. On le serait à moins après ce qu'il vient de se passer.

Moi je serai bien content de passer à Linux, pas parce que je trouve que c'est mieux mais surtout parce que ça ferait un peu de changement.

Le seul soucis à mon avis c'est pour les jeux plus actuels qui n'ont pas été dev pour Linux.

Même si dans deux ans BF5 sort sur Linux, pas sur que mon ordi du futur puisse faire tourner le 3 ou le 4 dans une machine virtuelle.

C'est pas faux. M'enfin d'ici là on a le temps de voir venir. Peut-être que Steam proposera à l'instar de gog des version compatible avec un tweak (éventuellement fait par des fans vu qu'ils aiment bien faire bosser la communauté).

J'suis allé voir dans le répertoire savedata du jeu mais rien de spécial.. une idée d'où ça pourrait être ? Rien dans mes documents, ni dans my games

Pas encore tout lu mais ça a l'air très informatif. On apprend notamment qu'une grande partie des employés de la boite font en ce moment même joujou avec le prototype.

Tu m'etonnes. En même temps c'est pas sorcier, une config mini-ITX dans un boitier format Desktop.

C'est l'OS qui m'intrigue moi. J'ai pas mal utilisé Big Picture l'avant dernier week-end pour jouer à teleglitch et force est de constater que des fenêtres Windows apparaissent de ci de là. Même si c'est parfaitement fonctionnel et plutôt bien conçu, ça fait encore "bricolé".

After a short demo, I got an opportunity to ask my burning questions about where all of this is going.

First, circle January on your calendar. That's when the other shoe will drop; Valve's hardware and software partners will reveal the actual Steam Machines that will ship to consumers, and the games that will come to the Linux platform, at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show.

There will be a number of different Steam Machine boxes on sale in 2014, and Valve expects them to arrive mid-year. Some of those boxes will be far smaller and / or cheaper than Valve's own prototype unit. "You can get far smaller, and that's what many OEMs are doing... I think it's safe to say less than a quarter of the size," the team told me.
