Nos plateformes de jeux remplaceront-elles la TV d'aujourd'hui ?

Après avoir produit la série The Guild (de Felicia Day), Microsoft dévoile le premier film exclusif à sa plateforme :

Ah, exclusivity. Typically the domain of movie theaters and premium cable subscriptions, now everyone's giving it a go. Microsoft's Xbox 360 is also joining the fray and has launched Pulp, a British indie comedy. The movie has already been shortlisted at several respectable film festivals but creator, Adam Hamdy, citing the high costs of marketing lesser-known films, said that a different approach was needed to get Pulp in front of audiences -- something that those 77 million Xbox 360 owners should be able to help with. Microsoft added that this won't be the only movie to debut on the Xbox Live's Video app, although it hasn't detailed how many more exclusives its salt-and-pepper console is likely to see.

Le film en lui même n'a pas beaucoup d'intérêt mais ça va dans le sens de beaucoup d'articles en ce moment qui veulent que le HBO de demain soit sur Internet... ou sur une Box. Ces sociétés payant pour du contenu exclusif.

L'exemple le plus récent est House of Cards avec Kevin Spacey et produit par David Fincher pour Netflix.

In a long and thoughtful profile of Netflix in GQ, the streaming company's chief content officer Ted Sarandos speaks out about what the future holds for the firm. He suggests Netflix must be making at least five new shows a year in order to outdo the big boys:

"The goal is to become HBO faster than HBO can become us."

With $300 million in his back pocket to spend on original programming—which has already allowed projects like House of Cards, Hemlock Grove, and a new season of Arrested Development to come to fruition—he certainly has the means. All that remains to be proven is the consistency and quality of its programming—and whether or not it can win over enough cable customers.

On se rappelle, avant que la Xbox ne se lance, des exécutifs de chez Microsoft expliquaient que le but ultime c'est de pouvoir contrôler le salon avec une machine capable de tout faire (jeu, télé, musique... et pouvoir régler la température de son chauffage...).

Est-ce qu'on ne s'en rapproche pas un peu plus ? Est-ce que Microsoft ne va pas dans la direction de produire du contenu inédit pour ses "abonnés" ?

CBS c'est Person of Interest, The Big Bang Theory, How I Met, Les Experts, le Mentaliste, Mon oncle Charlie... ce qu'est con c'est que ça risque d'être exclusif aux USA.

J'en parlais avant même l'avènement de la Xbox One. Finalement la série Halo par Spielberg va dans ce sens. La TV et la console sont intimement liés désormais.

Perso ca me dérange pas, mon utilisation n'est plus du tout la meme, ma 360 est sur Youtube et Orange tv au moins 60% du temps. Du moment que les jeux suivent, le reste c'est du bonus. Et puis je me suis reconnu quand vous (shin je crois) avez évoqué le vieux fantasme de la console "couteau suisse" lors du dernier podcast.
